1,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_01","Though Cid may be the man best qualified to gain access to the report stored in the Allagan node, G'raha Tia freely admits that his reasons for wanting to visit the engineer are not purely practical. Eager to be reunited with your mutual friend, he sets off for the Rising Stones at a brisk pace, leaving you and Alisaie to follow in his wake."
2,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_02","You get back to the Rising Stones to find Krile also returned, and she briefs you on all that transpired at the recent Alliance council. With the Empire still at war with itself, the Alliance has turned its attention to the primal problem once more. Working with friendly factions among the beast tribes, they hope to explore new avenues for peace, a development which only adds to your comrades' determination to find a cure for tempering. On that note, the impromptu meeting concludes, and Tataru suggests you wait for Cid in Dawn's Respite."
3,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_03","G'raha Tia positively beams with delight as Cid enters the chamber, and the pair enjoy a brief but joyous reunion. Soon after, thoughts turn to the matter of the locked report and Cid sets to work. Using the calculating power of a magitek terminal, he succeeds in identifying the late Owen's password, and you watch intently as the Allagan technologist appears in holographic form and explains the mechanism by which eikons make thralls of men. It is duly confirmed that, like those corrupted by Light, the souls of the tempered are subject to stagnation. <Emphasis>Unlike</Emphasis> with the victims of the sin eaters, however, you learn that one cannot reanimate a tempered soul without also intensifying the victim's fanatical faith. When you articulate this dilemma, G'raha Tia is inspired to theorize that an adapted version of memory transference might make it possible to perform targeted reanimation, and it is decided that you will rely once more on magitek terminals─this time to formulate a magick."
4,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_04","While Cid and G'raha Tia configure the terminals, you and the others are tasked with procuring supplies. Ironworks promissory note in hand, you set out for the Skysteel Manufactory in Ishgard to obtain the necessary ceruleum."
5,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_05","At the Skysteel Manufactory, you present the promissory note to Fromelaut, who informs you that an engineer at the airship landing will assist you with the ceruleum."
6,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_06","As you converse with the engineer, who should emerge from the landing but Ser Aymeric. Upon learning of your quest to cure tempering, he pledges Ishgard's full support, and sees you off aboard an airship laden with all the ceruleum you require and more.
Some while later, you enter the workshop at Revenant's Toll to find preparations well underway, the terminals successfully configured with the assistance of the ever-capable-if-not-available Nero. After confirming that all is ready, Cid gives the order to begin. While the terminals conduct their endless simulations, you decide to take a moment's rest...and awaken to a scene of chaos as the devices threaten to overload. Mere moments before they break down, the magick is revealed to G'raha Tia, who heaves a sigh of relief before turning to everyone with a smile. At long last, the world has a cure for tempering."

60,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_012","As you know, the meeting was convened to discuss how best to respond to recent events in Garlemald."
61,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_013","According to intelligence from our Doman allies, the war of succession rages on, and the Empire remains without a leader."
62,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_014","Amidst the chaos, the imperial legions in the provinces have begun to move independently of the motherland."
63,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_015","Of greatest concern to us is the IIIrd, a legion aligned with Lord Nerva. It appears they have received substantial financial backing from House Brutus."

66,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_018","Until such time as they do, the Allied leaders feel it would be unwise to interfere in the conflict. And so, thanks in part to the imperial withdrawal from Ghimlyt, they have decided to turn their attention to the primal problem once more."
67,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_019","Working with friendly factions among the beast tribes, they hope to reopen dialogue and explore new avenues for peace."

87,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_044","Well, well...a treatment for tempering. And for the next step, you need to find the password to this Allagan's report..."

90,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_047","Well, I'd love to say that we could help you...so I will. Once suitably configured, a magitek terminal should make short work of identifying the password."
91,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_048","I knew I could rely on you. Now, anticipating that it might be of use, I took the liberty of borrowing a tomestone from Rammbroes. It contains an Allagan dictionary."
92,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_049","Good thinking. I'll transfer the information to a terminal and set it to work right away."
93,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_101","Ah, looks like it's finished. Let's see..."
94,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_102","“Freedom.” The password is “freedom.”"
95,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_103","Hah. Short and simple, just as I said. Would you care to do the honors, Your Highness?"
96,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_104","I would, milady!"
97,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_105","Node, open the report entitled “Eikonic Corruption ─ An Overview,” password: freedom!"
98,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_DATASYSTEM_000_106","Password accepted. <bloop> Opening report..."
99,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_107","This report seeks to provide an overview of the mechanism by which eikons corrupt and bind men to their will."
100,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_108","The phenomenon we call “corruption” refers to the alteration of the aether of the soul."
101,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_109","Said aether ordinarily exists in equilibrium; no one element being more prominent than another."
102,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_110","But when a subject is exposed to the aether of an eikon, this changes, their soul taking on the properties of the entity in question."
103,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_111","By way of an example, exposure to the aether of the Fiend, Sephirot, would cause a subject's aether to become aligned with the element of earth."
104,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_112","As a consequence, the subject would attain heightened affinity with earth-aspected magicks, as well as preternatural levels of endurance. Repeated exposure would further enhance these traits, ultimately altering the subject's very flesh."
105,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_113","The changes undergone by the subject are not solely attributable to elemental alignment, however. Further testing has determined that the subject's soul becomes umbrally charged, or stagnant during the process."
106,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_114","This stagnation of the soul has the effect of diluting the sense of self, rendering the subject vulnerable to the will of the eikon, the thoughts of whom come to consume their entire existence."
107,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_115",""
108,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_116","In this manner do the corrupted become worshipers of the eikon, their prayers serving to further empower the entity."
109,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_117","Having discerned the mechanism of eikonic corruption, my colleagues and I set out to develop a material capable of shielding one from its effects. An endeavor in which we were successful, albeit it at great cost..."
110,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_118","In the course of testing, many of my assistants─good men and women all─fell victim to corruption. And in accordance with protocol, they were summarily put to death."
111,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_119","I subsequently submitted a proposal to investigate potential cures for corruption, but it was rejected─deemed “nonessential” by Lord Amon."
112,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_120","Though I knew it would be fruitless, I protested the decision. And for my impertinence, I have been stripped of rank and title, and will shortly be expelled from this facility."
113,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_121","In all likelihood, this report will be expunged from the archives. Nonetheless, I record it in the hope that one day, someone will undertake to do that which I could not, and find a cure for the victims of eikonic corruption. End recording."
114,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_122","So not even the Allagans were able to find a cure. Or rather, were not given the chance to do so. One cannot help but wonder what motivated Lord Amon's decision."
115,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_123","More importantly, this confirms that stagnation of the soul is indeed the problem─and Angelo can remedy that."
116,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_124","True. Yet were we simply to reanimate a tempered soul, I fear it would do naught to diminish the individual's fanatical faith. Indeed, it may well intensify it."
117,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_125","No, we would somehow need to suppress the primal's hold over the subject at the same time, or risk them ever remaining its thrall."
118,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_Q1_000_000","What will you say?"
119,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_A1_000_001","If we could only make them remember who they were..."
120,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_A1_000_002","So there's no point in reviving their souls unless we can also restore their sense of self?"
121,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_127","But of course─memory transference! The process has the effect of compartmentalizing memories─separating them into manageable bundles, if you will."
122,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_100_127","By adapting the technique, it may be possible to achieve <Emphasis>selective</Emphasis> reanimation. That is, limit the effects to only those memories that existed prior to tempering."
123,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_200_127","Through thus restoring the sense of self, we could theoretically drown out the incitements of false faith which had come to dominate the individual's thoughts."
124,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_100_128","I see... The theory seems sound. And our experience treating the Light-corrupted <Emphasis>would</Emphasis> help us to identify suitable memories for reanimation."
125,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_128","But are you confident you can adapt memory transference as required? I seem to recall your attempts to do so while trying to bring us home culminated in literal bloodletting."
126,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_129","They did, you are right. Despite my best efforts, I could not recreate the mechanism. And I concede that the rather clumsy compromise I reached would not provide the basis for a cure."
127,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_130","Then perhaps it's better that we consider another approach."
128,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_131","Your doubts are understandable, but this time I believe we have reason to be confident."
129,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_132","You see, nodes such as this were built with the ability to simulate magicks."
130,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_133","Which leads me to believe that it may be capable of performing simulations of the transference technique. If so, we would be able to conduct years' worth of tests within the space of a few days."
131,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_134","Hm. In theory, it would be no different from how we identified the password."
132,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_135","But it'll take more calculating power. A lot more. I honestly couldn't say whether our equipment would be up to the task."
133,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_136","Tell me, Cid. Why do you suppose Owen locked his report behind a password?"
134,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_137","To keep it from prying eyes, of course. Why else?"
135,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_138","...Wait. A password that could be guessed by anyone with leisure and a dictionary wouldn't keep it from a person minded to look."
136,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_139","No, he <Emphasis>wanted</Emphasis> his report to be seen...by those who strive for freedom."
137,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_140","Not unlike the members of a certain distinguished engineering collective. I believe their motto was “Freedom through Technology,” or some such."
138,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_141","You two─round up as many magitek terminals as you can find and bring them to the workshop."
139,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_WEDGE_000_142","Right away, Chief!"
140,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_143","Things are about to get very busy. Lucky we have you to help, eh?"
141,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_150","We're getting there, <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>. One step at a time."
142,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_151","As with our first foray into the Labyrinth of the Ancients, we seek to venture into the unknown. And in order to succeed, we require not only knowledge and preparation, but daring besides. Just like old times."
143,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_152","Suffice it to say, I shall be of whatever help I can."
144,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_TATARU_000_153","Hmmm, all those magitek terminals won't come cheap... Ack, shut up, Tataru. Some things you shouldn't put a price on."
145,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_DATASYSTEM_000_154","..."
146,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_160","Right, while G'raha Tia and I configure the terminals, I want the rest of you to procure supplies."
147,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_161","Namely, ceruleum to fuel the terminals and ice shards to keep them cool. The more we have of both, the better."
148,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_162","Leave the ice shards to me. I'll round up some adventurers and go on a gathering spree."
149,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_163","In that case, I'll trust <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/> and Alisaie with the ceruleum. Here's a promissory note for each of you."
150,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_164","Take them to the Skysteel Manufactory in Ishgard and the Ceruleum Processing Plant in Thanalan. The people there will give you what we need."
151,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_165","Yours is a well-known face in the Holy See, I believe? If it's all the same to you, I'll head to Thanalan."
152,"TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_168","If Alisaie's bound for the Ceruleum Processing Plant, you'll want to take yourself to the Skysteel Manufactory. Off you go, now."

4 0 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_00 G'raha Tia seems eager to bear the node away.
5 1 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_01 Though Cid may be the man best qualified to gain access to the report stored in the Allagan node, G'raha Tia freely admits that his reasons for wanting to visit the engineer are not purely practical. Eager to be reunited with your mutual friend, he sets off for the Rising Stones at a brisk pace, leaving you and Alisaie to follow in his wake.
6 2 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_02 You get back to the Rising Stones to find Krile also returned, and she briefs you on all that transpired at the recent Alliance council. With the Empire still at war with itself, the Alliance has turned its attention to the primal problem once more. Working with friendly factions among the beast tribes, they hope to explore new avenues for peace, a development which only adds to your comrades' determination to find a cure for tempering. On that note, the impromptu meeting concludes, and Tataru suggests you wait for Cid in Dawn's Respite.
7 3 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_03 G'raha Tia positively beams with delight as Cid enters the chamber, and the pair enjoy a brief but joyous reunion. When you articulate this dilemma, G'raha Tia is inspired to theorize that an adapted version of memory transference might make it possible to perform targeted reanimation, and it is decided that you will rely once more on magitek terminals─this time to formulate a magick.
8 4 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_04 While Cid and G'raha Tia configure the terminals, you and the others are tasked with procuring supplies. Ironworks promissory note in hand, you set out for the Skysteel Manufactory in Ishgard to obtain the necessary ceruleum.
9 5 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_05 At the Skysteel Manufactory, you present the promissory note to Fromelaut, who informs you that an engineer at the airship landing will assist you with the ceruleum.
10 6 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SEQ_06 As you converse with the engineer, who should emerge from the landing but Ser Aymeric. At long last, the world has a cure for tempering.

54 50 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_000 I should probably mention that I have yet to meet Cid since waking up. Rammbroes did send word to the Ironworks, but it appears our friend has been afield on urgent business.
55 51 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_001 Nevertheless, I assure you my proposal to seek his help is no pretext, however much I might look forward to seeing him again. Him and everyone. But come, let us be on our way.

57 53 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_003 Still, it wouldn't do to keep him waiting. Shall we?

59 55 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_006 I take it you have news to share. So do I.
60 56 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_TATARU_000_007 I'm pleased to see your mission was a success─and in no small part due to the <Emphasis>Bonanza</Emphasis>!
61 57 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_DATASYSTEM_000_008 <blip> Large lowborn presence detected.
62 58 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_010 Wonderful news, <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>! Tataru contacted Cid on our behalf, and he is on his way here even as we speak!
63 59 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_011 While we wait, I should like very much to hear what transpired at the Alliance council. Would you be so kind, Krile?
64 60 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_012 As you know, the meeting was convened to discuss how best to respond to recent events in Garlemald.
65 61 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_013 According to intelligence from our Doman allies, the war of succession rages on, and the Empire remains without a leader.
66 62 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_014 Amidst the chaos, the imperial legions in the provinces have begun to move independently of the motherland.
67 63 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_015 Of greatest concern to us is the IIIrd, a legion aligned with Lord Nerva. It appears they have received substantial financial backing from House Brutus.
68 64 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_016 Brutus... Aren't they the ones who took in Yotsuyu and Asahi? This bodes well...
69 65 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_017 Zenos's movements, meanwhile, remain shrouded in mystery. We're hoping that Thancred and Urianger will be able to shed some light on his activities when they return.
70 66 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_018 Until such time as they do, the Allied leaders feel it would be unwise to interfere in the conflict. And so, thanks in part to the imperial withdrawal from Ghimlyt, they have decided to turn their attention to the primal problem once more.
71 67 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_019 Working with friendly factions among the beast tribes, they hope to reopen dialogue and explore new avenues for peace.
72 68 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_020 Given the timing, I suspect they wish to put their respective houses in order ahead of a decisive clash with the Empire.
73 69 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_021
74 70 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_022
75 71 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_023 Whatever their intent, this is not a problem easily solved. The Lominsans, in particular, struggle in their efforts, and Alphinaud and Y'shtola have been called upon to aid them.
76 72 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_024 So long as we are dealing with the tempered, I'm afraid no amount of dialogue will avail us.
77 73 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_025 But if we can develop a treatment for tempering, then anything is possible!
78 74 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_026 Which is why we must succeed.
79 75 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_TATARU_000_027 And on that cheery note, why not make yourselves comfortable in Dawn's Respite? I'll show Cid in as soon as he arrives!
80 76 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_030 I understand you took a little trip to Azys Lla. Raha made himself useful, I trust?
81 77 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_TATARU_000_031 We've made the Respite cozier than ever. You're going to love it!
82 78 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_032 Cid, at long last...
83 79 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_033 As important as Ga Bu is to me, I know only too well how much more is at stake here. A cure could change the whole world.
84 80 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_DATASYSTEM_000_034 <blip> <bloop> Warning: His Highness is exhibiting elevated blood pressure.
85 81 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_040 Cid!
86 82 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_100_041 Forgive us for not coming to see you sooner, my friend. As you may have heard, we've had our hands full.
87 83 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_041 In our defense, you <Emphasis>are</Emphasis> up rather early. I was under the impression you'd be slumbering awhile longer.
88 84 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_042 Oh, I would have been─had you not fulfilled your promise.
89 85 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_100_043 Hah! I still struggle with that idea. From where I stand, the secrets of traversing time and space seem exactly as unfathomable as they ever did.
90 86 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_043 But if an alternate version of myself has already laid them bare, I daresay that frees me up to concentrate on other endeavors. Speaking of which, you wanted my help with something. What is it?
91 87 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_044 Well, well...a treatment for tempering. And for the next step, you need to find the password to this Allagan's report...
92 88 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_045 Just so. With nary a clue to guide us, we could be here forever and still not guess correctly. And thus we turn to you.
93 89 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_046
94 90 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_047 Well, I'd love to say that we could help you...so I will. Once suitably configured, a magitek terminal should make short work of identifying the password.
95 91 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_048 I knew I could rely on you. Now, anticipating that it might be of use, I took the liberty of borrowing a tomestone from Rammbroes. It contains an Allagan dictionary.
96 92 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_049 Good thinking. I'll transfer the information to a terminal and set it to work right away.
97 93 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_101 Ah, looks like it's finished. Let's see...
98 94 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_102 “Freedom.” The password is “freedom.”
99 95 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_103 Hah. Short and simple, just as I said. Would you care to do the honors, Your Highness?
100 96 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_104 I would, milady!
101 97 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_105 Node, open the report entitled “Eikonic Corruption ─ An Overview,” password: freedom!
102 98 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_DATASYSTEM_000_106 Password accepted. <bloop> Opening report...
103 99 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_107 This report seeks to provide an overview of the mechanism by which eikons corrupt and bind men to their will.
104 100 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_108 The phenomenon we call “corruption” refers to the alteration of the aether of the soul.
105 101 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_109 Said aether ordinarily exists in equilibrium; no one element being more prominent than another.
106 102 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_110 But when a subject is exposed to the aether of an eikon, this changes, their soul taking on the properties of the entity in question.
107 103 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_111 By way of an example, exposure to the aether of the Fiend, Sephirot, would cause a subject's aether to become aligned with the element of earth.
108 104 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_112 As a consequence, the subject would attain heightened affinity with earth-aspected magicks, as well as preternatural levels of endurance. Repeated exposure would further enhance these traits, ultimately altering the subject's very flesh.
109 105 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_113 The changes undergone by the subject are not solely attributable to elemental alignment, however. Further testing has determined that the subject's soul becomes umbrally charged, or stagnant during the process.
110 106 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_114 This stagnation of the soul has the effect of diluting the sense of self, rendering the subject vulnerable to the will of the eikon, the thoughts of whom come to consume their entire existence.
111 107 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_115
112 108 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_116 In this manner do the corrupted become worshipers of the eikon, their prayers serving to further empower the entity.
113 109 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_117 Having discerned the mechanism of eikonic corruption, my colleagues and I set out to develop a material capable of shielding one from its effects. An endeavor in which we were successful, albeit it at great cost...
114 110 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_118 In the course of testing, many of my assistants─good men and women all─fell victim to corruption. And in accordance with protocol, they were summarily put to death.
115 111 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_119 I subsequently submitted a proposal to investigate potential cures for corruption, but it was rejected─deemed “nonessential” by Lord Amon.
116 112 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_120 Though I knew it would be fruitless, I protested the decision. And for my impertinence, I have been stripped of rank and title, and will shortly be expelled from this facility.
117 113 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_OWEN_000_121 In all likelihood, this report will be expunged from the archives. Nonetheless, I record it in the hope that one day, someone will undertake to do that which I could not, and find a cure for the victims of eikonic corruption. End recording.
118 114 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_122 So not even the Allagans were able to find a cure. Or rather, were not given the chance to do so. One cannot help but wonder what motivated Lord Amon's decision.
119 115 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_123 More importantly, this confirms that stagnation of the soul is indeed the problem─and Angelo can remedy that.
120 116 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_124 True. Yet were we simply to reanimate a tempered soul, I fear it would do naught to diminish the individual's fanatical faith. Indeed, it may well intensify it.
121 117 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_125 No, we would somehow need to suppress the primal's hold over the subject at the same time, or risk them ever remaining its thrall.
122 118 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_Q1_000_000 What will you say?
123 119 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_A1_000_001 If we could only make them remember who they were...
124 120 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_A1_000_002 So there's no point in reviving their souls unless we can also restore their sense of self?
125 121 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_127 But of course─memory transference! The process has the effect of compartmentalizing memories─separating them into manageable bundles, if you will.
126 122 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_100_127 By adapting the technique, it may be possible to achieve <Emphasis>selective</Emphasis> reanimation. That is, limit the effects to only those memories that existed prior to tempering.
127 123 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_200_127 Through thus restoring the sense of self, we could theoretically drown out the incitements of false faith which had come to dominate the individual's thoughts.
128 124 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_100_128 I see... The theory seems sound. And our experience treating the Light-corrupted <Emphasis>would</Emphasis> help us to identify suitable memories for reanimation.
129 125 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_128 But are you confident you can adapt memory transference as required? I seem to recall your attempts to do so while trying to bring us home culminated in literal bloodletting.
130 126 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_129 They did, you are right. Despite my best efforts, I could not recreate the mechanism. And I concede that the rather clumsy compromise I reached would not provide the basis for a cure.
131 127 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_130 Then perhaps it's better that we consider another approach.
132 128 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_131 Your doubts are understandable, but this time I believe we have reason to be confident.
133 129 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_132 You see, nodes such as this were built with the ability to simulate magicks.
134 130 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_133 Which leads me to believe that it may be capable of performing simulations of the transference technique. If so, we would be able to conduct years' worth of tests within the space of a few days.
135 131 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_134 Hm. In theory, it would be no different from how we identified the password.
136 132 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_135 But it'll take more calculating power. A lot more. I honestly couldn't say whether our equipment would be up to the task.
137 133 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_136 Tell me, Cid. Why do you suppose Owen locked his report behind a password?
138 134 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_137 To keep it from prying eyes, of course. Why else?
139 135 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_138 ...Wait. A password that could be guessed by anyone with leisure and a dictionary wouldn't keep it from a person minded to look.
140 136 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_139 No, he <Emphasis>wanted</Emphasis> his report to be seen...by those who strive for freedom.
141 137 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_140 Not unlike the members of a certain distinguished engineering collective. I believe their motto was “Freedom through Technology,” or some such.
142 138 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_141 You two─round up as many magitek terminals as you can find and bring them to the workshop.
143 139 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_WEDGE_000_142 Right away, Chief!
144 140 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_143 Things are about to get very busy. Lucky we have you to help, eh?
145 141 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_150 We're getting there, <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>. One step at a time.
146 142 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_151 As with our first foray into the Labyrinth of the Ancients, we seek to venture into the unknown. And in order to succeed, we require not only knowledge and preparation, but daring besides. Just like old times.
147 143 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_152 Suffice it to say, I shall be of whatever help I can.
148 144 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_TATARU_000_153 Hmmm, all those magitek terminals won't come cheap... Ack, shut up, Tataru. Some things you shouldn't put a price on.
149 145 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_DATASYSTEM_000_154 ...
150 146 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_160 Right, while G'raha Tia and I configure the terminals, I want the rest of you to procure supplies.
151 147 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_161 Namely, ceruleum to fuel the terminals and ice shards to keep them cool. The more we have of both, the better.
152 148 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_000_162 Leave the ice shards to me. I'll round up some adventurers and go on a gathering spree.
153 149 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_163 In that case, I'll trust <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/> and Alisaie with the ceruleum. Here's a promissory note for each of you.
154 150 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_164 Take them to the Skysteel Manufactory in Ishgard and the Ceruleum Processing Plant in Thanalan. The people there will give you what we need.
155 151 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_ALISAIE_000_165 Yours is a well-known face in the Holy See, I believe? If it's all the same to you, I'll head to Thanalan.
156 152 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_CID_000_168 If Alisaie's bound for the Ceruleum Processing Plant, you'll want to take yourself to the Skysteel Manufactory. Off you go, now.
157 153 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_GRAHATIA_000_169 We shall see to it the terminals are ready by the time you return.
158 154 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_KRILE_100_170 We're about to set out for the ice shards. I suggest we all compare spoils when we return.
159 155 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_TATARU_100_171 The workshop hasn't been used for a while. I'll have to give it a good clean!
160 156 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_FROMELAUT_000_170 You stand in the Skysteel Manufactory. What is it you require?
161 157 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_FROMELAUT_000_171 Welcome back, <If(PlayerParameter(4))>Mistress<Else/>Master</If> <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>. How may I serve you this day?
162 158 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_FROMELAUT_000_172 So you are after ceruleum. In that case, please present the note to our engineer at the airship landing. He shall be glad to assist you.
163 159 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_FROMELAUT_000_175 Please present the note to our engineer at the airship landing. He shall be glad to assist you.
164 160 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SKYSTEELENGINEER04009_000_180 Ceruleum? You've come to the right man. Fair warnin', though: the price has shot up on account of the uncertainty with the Empire, so I hope you've got the coin!
165 161 TEXT_LUCKMJ103_04009_SKYSTEELENGINEER04009_000_181 Well now, a promissory note from the Ironworks. Don't see many of these. Not that it's a problem─it's as good as gold to me.
