0,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_00","Hardiboiled casts a resolute shadow beneath the unrelenting glare of True Vue's neon illumination."
1,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_01","Inspector's Log:
The Case of the Fiendish Fugitives continues! Detective Hardiboiled's latest lead led us beyond the dome in pursuit of a vandal wolfman. It was there, in a charmingly rustic town beset by troubles, that an unfortunate misunderstanding saw my loyal assistant arrested on suspicion of explosive mayhem. Naturally, I would not rest until her good name was cleared! Working closely with the detective, we apprehended the true perpetrator and freed the deeply traumatized Nashu from her unjust confinement. 'Tis a pity, though, that not all ended happily ever after: Carnelian, a dastardly villain from Hardiboiled's past, eluded our grasp. His involvement in the greater scheme has been made abundantly apparent, and I, Hildibrand, agent of enquiry, will be ready the next time the Crime King rears his metamorphic head!
            * * *
Having extracted additional information from the salvaged storage device, Hardiboiled briefs you on yet another monster-fied criminal. This particular ne'er-do-well now inhabits the body of a cactuar and has a well-documented record for operating air-wheelers with reckless abandon. According to Hildibrand, a speedy succulent matching the description was witnessed streaking southwards upon some flying contraption, and Hardiboiled concludes that catching said fugitive will be impossible on foot. It would seem a trip to the nearby custom air-wheeler shop is in order..."
2,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_02","Hardiboiled wishes to retrieve his personal air-wheeler from Monom's care, but the mechanic is doubtful the neglected vehicle will run without replacing a number of key parts. The detective puts you in charge of obtaining the superconductor coil, a task which should be made easier with the help of a handy gadget supplied by Monom. Once in the western district of the old Alexandria ruins, you are to set off the distress signal, and salvage the component from any defective sentries that respond."
3,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_03","Moments after you trigger the signal, you are assaulted by a wheeler-mounted soldier. One short battle later and you have the part you need to deliver into Monom's waiting hands."
4,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_04","The mechanic seems satisfied with the scavenged coil, but also perplexed by Hardiboiled's failure to return from what should have been a routine shopping trip. Certain that a simple battery is readily available, he sends you off to the Nexus Arcade to search for your tardy companions."
5,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_05","An irritated Hardiboiled explains how Nashu and the inspector suddenly wandered off, leaving him alone with his purchased battery. You begin searching for them together, and find the impulsive pair enjoying an unexpected reunion with a member of the Gentle Dead Men. At Hildibrand's urging, the zombie proceeds to tell you of his efforts to recruit the Yuweyawata undead, and from this account you learn the name of the sole surviving researcher and mastermind behind the fiendish fugitives' escapades: Keshkayi. Hardiboiled heads back to Monom's shop, promising to soon return upon his newly repaired air-wheeler."
6,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_06","It is not long before Hardiboiled comes racing back atop the custom-built “Night Stallion,” much to the amazed delight of your comrades. In response to a simple question from Nashu, the detective launches into an overly descriptive story of how he finally took down the Crime King, and subsequently lost his boiling need for speed. With Carnelian back on the streets, however, Hardiboiled is eager to ride again."

49,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_001","It took a bit of doing, but I was able to widen the crack I made in that storage device and yank out a couple new scraps of data."
50,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_002","The first file just so happened to be a record of Carnelian's procedure. Seems the bastard's soul was poured into one of those “clot” type monsters."
51,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_003","They've got an annoying talent for mimicking shapes and faces, which is exactly what Carnelian took advantage of when he tricked us with his fake Kemakka."

53,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_005","The other file I pulled had details on yet another monster-fied criminal."
54,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_006","This mook was nabbed for repeated vehicular violations─riding his air-wheeler too fast, making reckless maneuvers endangering others, that sort of thing. According to the data, he's running around in the body of a cactuar now."
55,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_007","Judging by what we've seen of that researcher's schemes, he'll have dispatched the prickly speed demon somewhere outside the dome. But where...?"
56,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_008","Rejoice, my good detective. For I, Hildibrand, agent of enquiry, come bearing the very direction you seek!"
57,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_009","I have it straight from the mouth of the <Emphasis>real</Emphasis> Kemakka that an ambulatory cactus piloting a flying contraption was supposedly observed streaking through the sky on a southerly bearing."
58,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_010","Alas, despite hastening to confirm this sighting, our intrepid sheriff arrived too late to see the needle-covered individual in question. The report was summarily dismissed as fanciful imaginings of inebriated townsfolk."
59,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_011","The insistent chirp of veteran instinct nonetheless impelled me to investigate! Thus did my faithful assistant and I venture further south to question the colorful crowds of Toolly-yodel."
60,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_012","Tuliyollal!"
61,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_013","Ahem, y-yes, there to find sober witnesses eager to tell of an airborne succulent!"
62,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_014","They said it was moving at an incredible pace, sat astride a vehicle like the ones the “mechanical invaders” had ridden. It was last seen zipping past a dirigible before vanishing into the clouds to the south..."
63,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_015","Alexandria's soldiers ride on air-wheelers, so unless there's another flying cactuar out there somewhere, I think we have our man. Good work!"
64,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_016","Almost <Emphasis>too</Emphasis> good, in fact..."
65,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_017","Over there! Is that a new case I spy!?"
66,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_018","Hardly had to bait the hook. They're the real deal, alright... Although come to think of it, I don't know why anyone would bother impersonating either of 'em to begin with."
67,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_019","At least the lead seems solid enough. But if we're serious about catching this guy, we'll need an air-wheeler of our own. Come on─there's a shop nearby that does custom jobs."
68,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_100_020","Did he say they do “custard” jobs...?"
69,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_100_021","Oh, I could go for a nice bowl of custard!"
70,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_100_022","This is the place. I used to be a regular here, but I ain't been back in a while... Let's see if they still remember me."

74,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_023","Happy to give it a tune-up if ye've credits to burn, but I'll need ye to supply some parts. A new high-voltage battery and superconductor coil at a minimum."
75,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_024",""
76,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_025","The chronometer's ticking. I'll see if I can't get my hands on a battery, but can I ask you to track down the coil?"
77,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_026","These soft-boiled dopes wouldn't know a suspension spring from an anti-gravity gimbal, but <Emphasis>you</Emphasis> I can trust to find the right part without cracking under the pressure."
78,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_Q2_000_000","What will you say?"
79,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_A2_000_001","I'm on it, Detective."

81,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_027","Just tellin' it like it is. I know a tough egg when I see one..."
82,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_028","Hardiboiled seems desperate to get his air-wheeler up and running, so I'll give ye a tip. Ye want a coil quick-like, then salvaging the rides of defective sentries is yer best bet."
83,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_029","I'll even lend ye this handy gadget to help ye out. Set off the distress signal on the west side of old Alexandria, and ye'll soon have some murderous mechanical company to dismantle for parts."
84,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_030","I'll take these two along with me on the battery hunt. Good luck out there."
85,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_035","That gizmo I gave ye will broadcast a distress signal that'll attract malfunctioning soldiers. Far as I know, some old units still wander around the west side of old Alexandria─try setting it off there."
86,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_040","Well? Get yer hands on a coil?"
87,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_041","Aye, that should do the trick. Now where did yer mates run off to...? Can't be that hard to find a store what sells batteries."
88,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_042","Ye should probably head over to the Nexus Arcade and see what's keepin' them."
89,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_045","Hardiboiled's takin' his sweet time buyin' a battery. Funny, he don't seem the type to window shop..."
90,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_050","<Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>. Any trouble picking up that coil? Nothing you couldn't handle, I'll wager."
91,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_051","As for the battery, I bought one easily enough... The problem was convincing the inspector and his gal to stick around after he “caught a whiff of tantalizing familiarity.”"
92,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_052","Long story short, they wandered off and haven't come back. S'pose we ought to go look for them, eh?"
93,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_053","I-Is that a corpse? A <Emphasis>smiling</Emphasis> corpse?"
94,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_054","Hah hah hah, you needn't fret, Detective. This dapper zombie is an old acquaintance of mine."
95,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_055","Allow me to introduce myself, good sir. I am a proud member of the Gentle Dead Men and disciple of Master Zombibrand."
96,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_056","I have been on the road, seeking out new recruits for our merry moldering band. Said search is what brought me here, and into the midst of this unexpected─yet most welcome─reunion."
97,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_057","I don't usually hold with necromancy, but he seems harmless enough... So, uh, if you're done catching up, we've got a case to work on."
98,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_058","In actual fact, our conversation was almost entirely case-adjacent! Employing his nose for festering fellows, this gentlezombie traced the stench of necromantic decay to the very facility in which I once slumbered..."
99,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_059","Yes, I became fast friends with one of the reanimated researchers there. During the process of getting to know each other, he spoke briefly of the only person left alive after the “incident.”"
100,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_060","According to my new charnel chum, all the lab workers perished when an accident resulted in the leakage of a highly toxic substance. All, that is, save for a single man who habitually wore a protective gas mask."
101,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_061","Keshkayi is his name. He was second-in-charge after the overseer himself, yet disdained by his peers as a “condescending know-it-all.”"
102,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_062","They did, however, grudgingly recognize his passion for his work. Even after devoting a full day to official experiments, he would pour his remaining time and energy into some mysterious side project."
103,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_063","And he was the sole surviving researcher, you say? Sounds like we finally have a name for our mastermind."
104,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_064","Courtesy of the shambling undead, no less. No matter how many years I do this job... Well, thanks for that."
105,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_065","Glad to be of service. Now, if you'll excuse me, my new recruit and I have a café tour planned!"
106,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_100_065","So, that fella was an honest-to-gods walking corpse, huh? I've met weird folks in my line of work, but do you always keep company with such oddballs...?"
107,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_100_066","Ah, that was out of line. It's just...I reckon there are forces in this world you're better off not messing with."
108,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_066","Anyway, let me take these parts back to Monom and get my wheeler repaired."
109,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_067","Shouldn't take too long. I'll ride him back here to make sure he's running smoothly, and you can see the magnificent beast in all his glory."
110,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_070","Our gentlezombie friend was as reanimated as ever!"
111,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_080","Detective Hardiboiled seemed somewhat nervous. Excited to reclaim his pride and joy, perhaps?"
112,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_100","Cor, would you look at that!"
113,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_101","What do you think, <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>? I call him Night Stallion. He's a custom job built for yours truly, and has far too much horsepower for the average mook to handle."
114,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_102","Anti-gravity capabilities are standard, but when it comes to ground speed, he's been tweaked to achieve the highest possible performance. The trick is to install quick-heating motor coils."
115,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_103","But won't the increased heat compromise the magnetic field's integrity, you ask? While that's a valid concern, a hotter drivetrain responds completely differently when you open up the throttle and─"
116,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_104","You. Get those filthy hands off my ride."
117,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_105","I merely thought to enhance your beloved steed with a touch of Salamanderville..."
118,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_106","So you've had this amazing machine this whole time? Why haven't you been riding it until now?"
119,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_107","Ah, so fresh-faced and innocent... The spitting image of my assistant."
120,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_108","I'll never forget the day I hung up my spurs. It was right after I'd caught Carnelian..."
121,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_109","I'd been simmering in thoughts of vengeance, fit to burst my shell at any moment."
122,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_110","The Big House is too good for the likes of the Crime King. See you in hell, Your Majesty..."
123,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_CARNELIAN_000_111","Should've pulled the trigger when you had the chance. You've gone soft, Hardiboiled."
124,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_112","This flashback exceeds the legal length!"
125,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_113","Laced with illicit embellishments, no doubt!"
126,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_Q1_000_000","What will you say?"
127,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_A1_000_001","Stick to the facts."
128,"TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_A1_000_002","Wrap it up, gumshoe."

4 0 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_00 Hardiboiled casts a resolute shadow beneath the unrelenting glare of True Vue's neon illumination.
5 1 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_01 Inspector's Log: The Case of the Fiendish Fugitives continues! * * * Having extracted additional information from the salvaged storage device, Hardiboiled briefs you on yet another monster-fied criminal. It would seem a trip to the nearby custom air-wheeler shop is in order...
6 2 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_02 Hardiboiled wishes to retrieve his personal air-wheeler from Monom's care, but the mechanic is doubtful the neglected vehicle will run without replacing a number of key parts. The detective puts you in charge of obtaining the superconductor coil, a task which should be made easier with the help of a handy gadget supplied by Monom. Once in the western district of the old Alexandria ruins, you are to set off the distress signal, and salvage the component from any defective sentries that respond.
7 3 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_03 Moments after you trigger the signal, you are assaulted by a wheeler-mounted soldier. One short battle later and you have the part you need to deliver into Monom's waiting hands.
8 4 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_04 The mechanic seems satisfied with the scavenged coil, but also perplexed by Hardiboiled's failure to return from what should have been a routine shopping trip. Certain that a simple battery is readily available, he sends you off to the Nexus Arcade to search for your tardy companions.
9 5 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_05 An irritated Hardiboiled explains how Nashu and the inspector suddenly wandered off, leaving him alone with his purchased battery. Hardiboiled heads back to Monom's shop, promising to soon return upon his newly repaired air-wheeler.
10 6 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_SEQ_06 It is not long before Hardiboiled comes racing back atop the custom-built “Night Stallion,” much to the amazed delight of your comrades. In response to a simple question from Nashu, the detective launches into an overly descriptive story of how he finally took down the Crime King, and subsequently lost his boiling need for speed. With Carnelian back on the streets, however, Hardiboiled is eager to ride again.

52 48 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_000 <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>. I was hoping you'd drop by...
53 49 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_001 It took a bit of doing, but I was able to widen the crack I made in that storage device and yank out a couple new scraps of data.
54 50 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_002 The first file just so happened to be a record of Carnelian's procedure. Seems the bastard's soul was poured into one of those “clot” type monsters.
55 51 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_003 They've got an annoying talent for mimicking shapes and faces, which is exactly what Carnelian took advantage of when he tricked us with his fake Kemakka.
56 52 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_004 Never fear, Inspector Hildibrand is here!
57 53 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_005 The other file I pulled had details on yet another monster-fied criminal.
58 54 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_006 This mook was nabbed for repeated vehicular violations─riding his air-wheeler too fast, making reckless maneuvers endangering others, that sort of thing. According to the data, he's running around in the body of a cactuar now.
59 55 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_007 Judging by what we've seen of that researcher's schemes, he'll have dispatched the prickly speed demon somewhere outside the dome. But where...?
60 56 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_008 Rejoice, my good detective. For I, Hildibrand, agent of enquiry, come bearing the very direction you seek!
61 57 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_009 I have it straight from the mouth of the <Emphasis>real</Emphasis> Kemakka that an ambulatory cactus piloting a flying contraption was supposedly observed streaking through the sky on a southerly bearing.
62 58 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_010 Alas, despite hastening to confirm this sighting, our intrepid sheriff arrived too late to see the needle-covered individual in question. The report was summarily dismissed as fanciful imaginings of inebriated townsfolk.
63 59 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_011 The insistent chirp of veteran instinct nonetheless impelled me to investigate! Thus did my faithful assistant and I venture further south to question the colorful crowds of Toolly-yodel.
64 60 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_012 Tuliyollal!
65 61 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_013 Ahem, y-yes, there to find sober witnesses eager to tell of an airborne succulent!
66 62 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_014 They said it was moving at an incredible pace, sat astride a vehicle like the ones the “mechanical invaders” had ridden. It was last seen zipping past a dirigible before vanishing into the clouds to the south...
67 63 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_015 Alexandria's soldiers ride on air-wheelers, so unless there's another flying cactuar out there somewhere, I think we have our man. Good work!
68 64 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_016 Almost <Emphasis>too</Emphasis> good, in fact...
69 65 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_017 Over there! Is that a new case I spy!?
70 66 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_018 Hardly had to bait the hook. They're the real deal, alright... Although come to think of it, I don't know why anyone would bother impersonating either of 'em to begin with.
71 67 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_019 At least the lead seems solid enough. But if we're serious about catching this guy, we'll need an air-wheeler of our own. Come on─there's a shop nearby that does custom jobs.
72 68 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_100_020 Did he say they do “custard” jobs...?
73 69 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_100_021 Oh, I could go for a nice bowl of custard!
74 70 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_100_022 This is the place. I used to be a regular here, but I ain't been back in a while... Let's see if they still remember me.
75 71 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_020 Well, well, look who the wind blew in.
76 72 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_021 Monom. I've come for my steed.
77 73 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_022 That battered old scrap heap? It's been rustin' on my garage floor so long, I doubt it could manage a slow trot, let alone a gallop.
78 74 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_023 Happy to give it a tune-up if ye've credits to burn, but I'll need ye to supply some parts. A new high-voltage battery and superconductor coil at a minimum.
79 75 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_024
80 76 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_025 The chronometer's ticking. I'll see if I can't get my hands on a battery, but can I ask you to track down the coil?
81 77 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_026 These soft-boiled dopes wouldn't know a suspension spring from an anti-gravity gimbal, but <Emphasis>you</Emphasis> I can trust to find the right part without cracking under the pressure.
82 78 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_Q2_000_000 What will you say?
83 79 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_A2_000_001 I'm on it, Detective.
84 80 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_A2_000_002 Got my number, do you?
85 81 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_027 Just tellin' it like it is. I know a tough egg when I see one...
86 82 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_028 Hardiboiled seems desperate to get his air-wheeler up and running, so I'll give ye a tip. Ye want a coil quick-like, then salvaging the rides of defective sentries is yer best bet.
87 83 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_029 I'll even lend ye this handy gadget to help ye out. Set off the distress signal on the west side of old Alexandria, and ye'll soon have some murderous mechanical company to dismantle for parts.
88 84 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_030 I'll take these two along with me on the battery hunt. Good luck out there.
89 85 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_035 That gizmo I gave ye will broadcast a distress signal that'll attract malfunctioning soldiers. Far as I know, some old units still wander around the west side of old Alexandria─try setting it off there.
90 86 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_040 Well? Get yer hands on a coil?
91 87 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_041 Aye, that should do the trick. Now where did yer mates run off to...? Can't be that hard to find a store what sells batteries.
92 88 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_042 Ye should probably head over to the Nexus Arcade and see what's keepin' them.
93 89 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_MONOM_000_045 Hardiboiled's takin' his sweet time buyin' a battery. Funny, he don't seem the type to window shop...
94 90 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_050 <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>. Any trouble picking up that coil? Nothing you couldn't handle, I'll wager.
95 91 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_051 As for the battery, I bought one easily enough... The problem was convincing the inspector and his gal to stick around after he “caught a whiff of tantalizing familiarity.”
96 92 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_052 Long story short, they wandered off and haven't come back. S'pose we ought to go look for them, eh?
97 93 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_053 I-Is that a corpse? A <Emphasis>smiling</Emphasis> corpse?
98 94 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_054 Hah hah hah, you needn't fret, Detective. This dapper zombie is an old acquaintance of mine.
99 95 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_055 Allow me to introduce myself, good sir. I am a proud member of the Gentle Dead Men and disciple of Master Zombibrand.
100 96 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_056 I have been on the road, seeking out new recruits for our merry moldering band. Said search is what brought me here, and into the midst of this unexpected─yet most welcome─reunion.
101 97 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_057 I don't usually hold with necromancy, but he seems harmless enough... So, uh, if you're done catching up, we've got a case to work on.
102 98 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_058 In actual fact, our conversation was almost entirely case-adjacent! Employing his nose for festering fellows, this gentlezombie traced the stench of necromantic decay to the very facility in which I once slumbered...
103 99 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_059 Yes, I became fast friends with one of the reanimated researchers there. During the process of getting to know each other, he spoke briefly of the only person left alive after the “incident.”
104 100 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_060 According to my new charnel chum, all the lab workers perished when an accident resulted in the leakage of a highly toxic substance. All, that is, save for a single man who habitually wore a protective gas mask.
105 101 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_061 Keshkayi is his name. He was second-in-charge after the overseer himself, yet disdained by his peers as a “condescending know-it-all.”
106 102 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_062 They did, however, grudgingly recognize his passion for his work. Even after devoting a full day to official experiments, he would pour his remaining time and energy into some mysterious side project.
107 103 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_063 And he was the sole surviving researcher, you say? Sounds like we finally have a name for our mastermind.
108 104 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_064 Courtesy of the shambling undead, no less. No matter how many years I do this job... Well, thanks for that.
109 105 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_ZOMBIEA_000_065 Glad to be of service. Now, if you'll excuse me, my new recruit and I have a café tour planned!
110 106 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_100_065 So, that fella was an honest-to-gods walking corpse, huh? I've met weird folks in my line of work, but do you always keep company with such oddballs...?
111 107 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_100_066 Ah, that was out of line. It's just...I reckon there are forces in this world you're better off not messing with.
112 108 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_066 Anyway, let me take these parts back to Monom and get my wheeler repaired.
113 109 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_067 Shouldn't take too long. I'll ride him back here to make sure he's running smoothly, and you can see the magnificent beast in all his glory.
114 110 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_070 Our gentlezombie friend was as reanimated as ever!
115 111 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_080 Detective Hardiboiled seemed somewhat nervous. Excited to reclaim his pride and joy, perhaps?
116 112 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_100 Cor, would you look at that!
117 113 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_101 What do you think, <Split(<Highlight>ObjectParameter(1)</Highlight>, ,1)/>? I call him Night Stallion. He's a custom job built for yours truly, and has far too much horsepower for the average mook to handle.
118 114 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_102 Anti-gravity capabilities are standard, but when it comes to ground speed, he's been tweaked to achieve the highest possible performance. The trick is to install quick-heating motor coils.
119 115 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_103 But won't the increased heat compromise the magnetic field's integrity, you ask? While that's a valid concern, a hotter drivetrain responds completely differently when you open up the throttle and─
120 116 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_104 You. Get those filthy hands off my ride.
121 117 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_105 I merely thought to enhance your beloved steed with a touch of Salamanderville...
122 118 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_106 So you've had this amazing machine this whole time? Why haven't you been riding it until now?
123 119 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_107 Ah, so fresh-faced and innocent... The spitting image of my assistant.
124 120 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_108 I'll never forget the day I hung up my spurs. It was right after I'd caught Carnelian...
125 121 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_109 I'd been simmering in thoughts of vengeance, fit to burst my shell at any moment.
126 122 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_110 The Big House is too good for the likes of the Crime King. See you in hell, Your Majesty...
127 123 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_CARNELIAN_000_111 Should've pulled the trigger when you had the chance. You've gone soft, Hardiboiled.
128 124 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HILDIBRAND_000_112 This flashback exceeds the legal length!
129 125 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_NASHUMHAKARACCA_000_113 Laced with illicit embellishments, no doubt!
130 126 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_Q1_000_000 What will you say?
131 127 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_A1_000_001 Stick to the facts.
132 128 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_A1_000_002 Wrap it up, gumshoe.
133 129 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_114 ...To cut to the chase, my assistant was avenged. Slingin' the Crime King into the slammer took me off the boil, and riding cold just ain't my style.
134 130 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_115 But now that Carnelian's on the streets again, it's time for me to get back in the saddle.
135 131 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_116 They were saying that cactuar punk flew over Tooly-whatever, then blew past a dirigible on his way south, right? What kinda territory are we lookin' at?
136 132 TEXT_CHRHDB941_05446_HARDIBOILED_000_117 Lots of big trees, are there? Then let's make this Yak T'el's dirigible landing our starting point. I'll take Night Stallion and meet you there.
