10TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SEQ_00Ollier seeks a volunteer for a golden opportunity. ※This quest is available for a limited time only.
21TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SEQ_01You step into Wonder Square to be greeted by a Gold Saucer attendant named Ollier, who offers you the rare chance to experience a number of forthcoming attractions ahead of their release to the public. Never one to pass up such an alluring opportunity, you agree to Ollier's proposition, but before he can explain further a shrill cry sounds from the Manderville Lounge. The attendant rushes off to lend his aid, and urges you to accompany him. ※Please note that you will be unable to complete this quest after the seasonal event has ended. For details, please check the Lodestone.
32TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SEQ_02A chilling sight greets your arrival at the Manderville Lounge: an Elezen lying prostrate on the floor, surrounded by shocked onlookers. Z'napha, a Gold Saucer server, explains that the man was suddenly overcome in a violent fit, from which it seems he will not recover. Roland appears, drawn by the distressed scream, and demands an explanation. After Ollier apprises Roland of the situation, he shocks everyone present by concluding that Goncquard, the victim, was likely poisoned. Roland urges a swift call to action, and appoints both you and Ollier as interim inspectors, offering his full support. Ollier wastes no time and immediately deduces the three most likely suspects─Z'napha, Lyell, and Flaurie─suggesting that you start your inquiry by questioning them.
43TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SEQ_03Unsurprisingly, each of the suspects denies any involvement in or knowledge of the poisoning. With your options exhausted, perhaps it would be best to consult with Ollier as to what your next step should be.
54TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SEQ_04Ollier is unperturbed at your initial difficulties, and urges you to begin searching the Gold Saucer. He is certain that somewhere lies evidence the criminal has overlooked, or that one of the many people in the Gold Saucer saw something that can aid your inquiry. Scour every room and question every guest, and speak with Ollier once you have determined who poisoned Goncquard in the Manderville Lounge.
65TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SEQ_05After an impressive show of deductive reasoning, you unveil the identity of Goncquard's murderer, bringing this dramatic incident to a close. The conclusion comes as a surprise to some, but all involved are happy to put this tragedy behind them. Now that the mystery is solved, speak with Ollier to see if there is anything else he requires.
76TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SEQ_06Ollier is relieved that your work is over, and asks you to follow him to Wonder Square, where Roland awaits to congratulate you personally.
87TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SEQ_07Your success is celebrated by all and sundry, and Roland promises a grand reward for your efforts. However, the web of intrigue surrounding this murder is intricate, and even the cleverest inspector can overlook small details at first glance. Should you wish to retrace the tragedy at the Manderville Lounge and consult the evidence once more, speak with Ollier to relive the case.

4948TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_100_000This quest contains branching sections, and during certain portions you will receive no guidance from the journal or duty list. You will need to read the text carefully and decipher the clues to determine your next course of action.
5049TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_110_000Furthermore, the conclusion of the quest will differ depending on the choices you make. However, the rewards will remain the same.
5150TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_000We hope you are enjoying your time at the Gold Saucer, madam. I am Ollier, and these are my fellow attendants. Forgive my presumption, but you appear to be one that craves amusement, and we have an opportunity that is sure to sate your appetite.
5251TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_001You see, we are devising a number of new attractions which promise to entice even more patrons to our establishment, and we would offer *you* the chance to partake in these delights before anyone else in Eorzea.
5352TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_002We only ask in return that you provide an earnest judgment of our offerings, so we might use that to refine the final product. A fair trade, I believe. So, do we have an agreement, madam?
5453TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_003Splendid! Lord Manderville shall know of your contributions! Now, if you would just follow─
5554TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_FLAURIE_000_004(-???-)AAAAAAHHH!
5655TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_005A scream!? It came from above─ Quickly, we must help!
5756TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_000_006Was this man a victim of foul play, or did his meal simply disagree with him?
5857TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_WYNKYN_000_007
5958TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_LYELL_000_008He's... Is he...?
6059TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ZNAPHA_000_009It all happened so suddenly. One moment they were sharing laughs over drinks, and the next...
6160TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_FLAURIE_000_010Darling! Please get up! Please!
6261TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_020Mistress Flaurie!? What...what happened!?
6362TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_FLAURIE_000_021No... He can't be... Please, no...
6463TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ZNAPHA_000_022It happened in a flash, it did! They were enjoying their meal together, happy as ever, when without warning Master Goncquard keels over as if a chocobo just bucked him in the belly! Now, I'm no chirurgeon, but I don't reckon he'll be getting back up...
6564TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_023You─ You don't mean!?
6665TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_024He's...dead!?
6766TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_025Ollier! What is the meaning of this!? You know we do not abide drunkards dozing on the floor! I demand an explanation!
6867TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_026Master Roland!? Why, yes, of course. We have only just arrived, but it appears Goncquard collapsed suddenly during his meal. Given his current state, I can't imagine overindulgence was the cause...
6968TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_027No, such a sudden passing points to something more sinister. Master Roland, I believe this was no natural death. I believe Goncquard was poisoned!
7069TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_028*Poisoned*!? By the Twelve, a murderer is in our midst! We must act swiftly─ I want the perpetrator in shackles!
7170TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_029Ah, and who better to assist us than Mistress ! Lord Manderville has no shortage of praise for your heroism─and your deftness at deduction! What say you, friend? Will you aid us in bringing a criminal to justice?
7271TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_030And it would seem you already have a capable aide! The profession of adventurer demands *some* aptitude at deduction, certainly. What was your name, friend? Well then, Mistress , what say you? Will you aid us in bringing a criminal to justice?
7372TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_031Excellent! Ollier, you have my leave to put your current duties on hold. I grant both of you the title of interim inspector, and you shall have my full support in your inquiry.
7473TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_032We shall not disappoint. Now, Mistress , let us step back and take stock of the situation. Assuming Goncquard was poisoned, I gather there are only three people who had the opportunity─if not the motive─to do so discreetly.
7574TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_033Z'napha, who served Goncquard his food...
7675TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_034Lyell, who prepared his libations...
7776TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_035And lastly─while I shudder to entertain such a possibility─we must also consider Goncquard's wife suspect, as I can only assume she was close to him throughout the meal.
7877TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_036Considering the gravity of the crime, we must avoid making any hasty accusations before we have a clear understanding of what transpired here. To that end, our first course of action should be to question each of the suspects. Mistress , I entrust that task to you.
7978TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_037And for my part, I shall summon the Brass Blades forthwith. I trust the culprit will be unmasked and ready to be apprehended upon my return.
8079TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_040I know as little of the situation as you do, Mistress . Our suspects, however, may be able to shed some light on what transpired here.
8180TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_LYELL_000_041You...you suspect *me* of poisoning Master Goncquard!? Preposterous! I would never commit such an atrocious act, let alone against one of my most loyal customers! I won't stand for such baseless accusations!
8281TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ZNAPHA_000_042You can't think I'm a murderer! You can't! I just carry the food and drink, is all... I don't even touch it!
8382TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_FLAURIE_000_043My husband's body is still warm, and you accuse *me* of his murder!? I... <sniff> I have no words... <sob>
8483TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_LYELL_000_044I would never risk my reputation, my livelihood, by committing such a brazen crime. You're wasting both of our times by keeping me here.
8584TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ZNAPHA_000_045Master Goncquard didn't have an enemy in the world far as I know... He was always so kind to the servers, always paid us extra...
8685TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_FLAURIE_000_046<sob> ...I have nothing more to say to you. <sniff> ...Please, afford me time to grieve...
8786TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_050Hmmm... I must admit, that wasn't as helpful as I had hoped, and I fear pressing our suspects further would only earn us their ire. We need not lose heart, however, as there are other avenues available to us.
8887TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_051No crime is perfect, and even the most meticulous criminal leaves behind some trace of evidence. I am confident that if we search every corner of the Gold Saucer, and question every person within, the answer to this mystery will come together in due time.
8988TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_052Of course, our suspects cannot be left alone. I shall remain here, and ask that you make a thorough search of the Gold Saucer. If you uncover aught you wish to discuss, return here and I will lend what aid I can.
9089TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_000_053Scattered throughout the Gold Saucer are clues that will aid you in uncovering the identity of Goncquard's killer. Obtain them by speaking to the denizens of the Gold Saucer and investigating any suspicious items.
9190TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_000_054You may speak with Ollier to discuss what you have uncovered. Let no scrap of evidence escape you, and piece together the puzzle of Goncquard's fate!
9291TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_000_060A piece of crumpled parchment lies conspicuously on the floor. Upon closer inspection, you see a message written in a precise hand. “To the King, You know what must needs be done. Succeed, and you shall be rewarded handsomely. From, The Rook”
9392TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_000_061Tucked away next to the pillar is a small phial, drained of its contents. However, a sweet scent still lingers within.
9493TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_NORTHERNSTORM_000_062Goncquard loved his drink, 'specially when his wife weren't with him. Had a bit o' trouble keepin' his hands off the servers while in his cups, though, an' havin' Z'napha around just made it worse. Girl didn't seem to mind, though I suppose the extra coin he paid didn't hurt. I imagine his wife would've given him an earful if she ever found out.
9594TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_KOKOMUI_000_063I saw Goncquard around the Cactpot Board often enough to call him a comrade-in-arms against chance. Luck seemed to always favor him, though, filling his coinpurse while leaving mine lighter by the day. Well, I suppose everyone's fortune reverses in time, eh?
9695TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_JOURCEL_000_064He was poisoned!? By the gods, Goncquard and his wife were in such high spirits when I passed by the Manderville Lounge earlier. To see them laughing cheerily at the antics of that Senor Sabotender, I would have never imagined such a tragic turn of events...
9796TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ABBELINA_000_065Master Goncquard came here most days. Sometimes alone, sometimes with Mistress Flaurie... <sigh> They seemed like such a happy pair. 'Tis heartbreaking that we'll not see them walking cheerfully through the Saucer any longer.
9897TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_HITCHCOCK_000_066Aye, I saw the whole sorry affair from a nearby table. Nearly choked on my own food at the sight, I did. But I acted quickly─ I knew at once that foul play was afoot, so I stole away with the glass from which Goncquard took his last fateful sip...
9998TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_HITCHCOCK_000_067Now, now, I was only acting in your best interests. What if this was lost, or worse? I'm familiar enough with mysteries to know an inspector must always think one step ahead of her quarry. Here, take the glass─ I have an inkling you might need it.
10099TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_000_068The glass is empty, but a faint, sweet odor still remains.
101100TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_000_069The plate Z'napha served Goncquard. The pungent odor of bitter spirits is almost overpowering.
102101TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_VELEDA_000_070If you ask me, Lyell's the last person I'd suspect of murder. Someone so serious wouldn't be so rash. Can't say the same for Z'napha, though. Not that I think she has it in her to kill someone, of course; she just hasn't been at the Saucer long enough for me to get to know her.
103102TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_000_071Thankfully, the crumpled figure before you is not another victim, but merely a discarded Senor Sabotender costume. A sickly-sweet fragrance hangs in the air, and the scene makes you uneasy, as if you have caught a glimpse of something no one was meant to see.
104103TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_100_071You inquire about the late Goncquard and the circumstances surrounding his demise.
105104TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_110_071Remember this information well, for it may prove crucial to your inquiry.
106105TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_120_071Your search has yielded all the pieces of the puzzle. It is now up to you to put them together.
107106TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_072Ah, you are returned! Have you uncovered anything that might help us bring this dreadful affair to a close?
108107TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_100_072You have returned at last! Your inquiry has uncovered ample clues, and now it is up to us to make sense of them. Unless you already have, of course! Elsewise, I would be happy to mull over the evidence with you.
109108TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q1_000_000Do you know who poisoned Goncquard?
110109TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_000_001The killer is among us, and I know who it is!
111110TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_000_002I'd like to discuss the evidence I've gathered so far.
112111TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_000_003Nothing.
113112TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_SYSTEM_110_072The conclusion of this quest will differ depending on the choices you make in the following sequence. However, the rewards will remain the same.
114113TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q1_100_000Are you ready to explain your reasoning?
115114TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_100_001Yes.
116115TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_100_002No.
117116TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_073Such confidence! Nevertheless, this is a grievous crime with a grievous punishment, so the burden is on us, the inspectors, to explain our reasoning before making accusations. And so, Mistress , I would ask that you walk us through how you came to your conclusion.
118117TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_074I understand. This is not a matter to be taken lightly. Very well, speak to me again once you are confident in your conclusion.
119118TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_000A prudent choice. Considering the magnitude of the crime, we must pore over every piece of evidence before making accusations. So, what shall we discuss?
120119TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_001Hmmm... Perhaps it would be best if we had something to discuss first. I am certain our murderer overlooked something, and I am certain that with diligence you shall find it. Return to me once you've gathered any evidence that could be of use.
121120TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q1_200_000Which piece of evidence would you like to discuss?
122121TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_001The scrap of parchment.
123122TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_002The empty phial.
124123TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_003Northern Storm's statement.
125124TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_004Kokomui's statement.
126125TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_005Jourcel's statement.
127126TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_006Abbelina's statement.
128127TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_007Hitchcock's statement and Goncquard's glass.
129128TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_008The plate Z'napha served Goncquard.
130129TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_009Veleda's statement.
131130TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_010The discarded Senor Sabotender costume.
132131TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A1_200_011Nothing.
133132TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_010A crumpled scrap of parchment, upon which the following words were writ. “To the King, You know what must needs be done. Succeed, and you shall be rewarded handsomely. From, The Rook” Hmmm... Ominous titles, for an ominous letter. Who could these two characters be?
134133TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_020Ah yes, an empty phial found discarded on the staircase. You say you could detect a sweet aroma from within it, yes? Hmmm... What could it have possibly contained?
135134TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_030Ah, Northern Storm, the Roegadyn eying these proceedings so intently. His gaze makes me slightly uneasy, but he did shed some light on Goncquard's time alone at the Gold Saucer.
136135TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_031It would seem our victim had a habit of imbibing─particularly when his wife was absent─which led to wandering hands and a loose tongue, especially when Z'napha was around. I cannot help but wonder what Mistress Flaurie thought of all this, or if she even knew...
137136TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_040That Lalafell seems to have taken a keen interest in how this affair will play out. Nonetheless, he provided us with valuable insight into our victim's favored pastime.
138137TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_041Kokomui and Goncquard shared the love of the Cactpot Board, though fortune often favored the latter, leaving him with an excess of MGP. In a place like the Gold Saucer, it is plain how such luck could incite envy, or worse...
139138TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_050Jourcel happened to pass by the Manderville Lounge just before Goncquard was killed. He was among the last few to see our victim alive and well.
140139TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_051He spied one of our very own Senor Sabotenders entertaining the couple with its whimsical poses. Not an unusual sight in the Gold Saucer, to be sure, but I'm certain not many expect it to be followed by tragedy.
141140TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_060Abbelina has long been greeting the Saucer's patrons, and as such is privy to their comings and goings. Goncquard was no exception.
142141TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_061He would often be accompanied by Flaurie, as one would expect. But more surprising, however, is the revelation that he would sometimes come on his own. One cannot help but wonder what activities our poor Goncquard indulged in when his wife was not present.
143142TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_070Hitchcock's story itself did not give us much of value, but speaking to him proved worthwhile nonetheless.
144143TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_071He was dining next to the ill-fated couple when tragedy struck, and whether it be by foresight─as he claims─or some morbid impulse, he snatched up the glass from which Goncquard took his last sip.
145144TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_072Of course, it would have been preferable to find the evidence undisturbed, but I suppose we should be grateful to come into possession of it at all.
146145TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_073<sniff> ...Hmmm, I detect a sweet aroma. It seems so familiar, but for the life of me I cannot recall why.
147146TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_080The plate Z'napha served the couple was rank with the bitter smell of strong spirits. Perhaps Goncquard was particular to such libations? Still, even our strongest drink would not cause so sudden a death as his.
148147TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_090Veleda spends her days behind the Cactpot Board counter, and is well acquainted with most of the Gold Saucer's staff.
149148TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_091She seemed certain of Lyell's innocence, but admitted to knowing too little about Z'napha to speak on her character. Hmmm... I appreciate her honesty. It would be a shame if an uninformed judgment led us to accusing the wrong person.
150149TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_200_100Ah, the secret of the Saucer's sabotenders comes out at last. Who could be so careless as to leave the costume out in the open? Nonetheless, it may prove to be a vital piece of this puzzle. The sweet odor you say hung in the air is most unusual. If we could but ascertain its origin...
151150TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_075Very well, then we should start by answering the most elementary question: *how* was Goncquard poisoned?
152151TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q2_000_000How was the victim poisoned?
153152TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A2_000_001The poison was mixed in his drink!
154153TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A2_000_002The poison was hidden in his food!
155154TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_076Hmmm... So it was the drink that killed him. Of course, of course, an astute judgment. But why not the food? How can you be certain Goncquard's beverage was poisoned?
156155TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q3_000_000What compelled the criminal to poison Goncquard's drink?
157156TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A3_000_001Because that's how *I'd* poison someone!
158157TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A3_000_002Everyone knows poison dissolves more readily in liquid.
159158TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A3_000_003You only need smell his glass. The sickly-sweet scent is unmistakable: it's poison!
160159TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_077Ah, the food! Truth be told, I had arrived at the same conclusion myself. The savory aromas and rich flavors would mask the poison's scent and taste alike. How clever...
161160TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_078True... It would be a trifling matter to slip a few fatal drops into Goncquard's drink, and once mixed properly he would be none the wiser.
162161TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_079That odor, of course! So sweet as to be unnatural, and not befitting Goncquard's tastes besides. There is no doubt─I am all but certain the drink was poisoned. Now we must ascertain when.
163162TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_080There were numerous opportunities for our suspect to administer the fatal concoction. Mistress , pray tell us when you think this occurred.
164163TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q4_000_000When was the poison administered?
165164TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A4_000_001While his food and drink were being prepared.
166165TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A4_100_001While his food and drink were being served.
167166TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A4_000_002While the food and drink were already on the table.
168167TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_081Such brazenness! The killer could have peered straight into Goncquard's eyes! It was no simple task─ Several people were there and claim to have seen nothing. How could our perpetrator possibly have accomplished such a feat?
169168TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q5_000_000How was the poison hidden?
170169TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A5_000_001On second thought, perhaps the poisoning occurred during preparation.
171170TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A5_100_001Perhaps I was wrong. The poisoning likely occurred while his meal was being served.
172171TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A5_000_002The poison was contained in a small, sealed phial!
173172TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_082Brilliant! Why, I am all but certain who the killer is now.
174173TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_083Perhaps you are right. Remember, there is no shame in reconsidering your deductions. We must take great care not to accuse the innocent.
175174TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_084Yes, the phial! Small enough to hide on one's self, and the murderer would only need a moment to apply the poison. Hmmm... Our criminal was meticulous indeed. But not meticulous enough, it would seem!
176175TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_085Well, I believe this mystery is all but solved. Mistress , I would give you the honor of revealing the identity of our culprit. I wait with bated breath.
177176TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q6_000_000Who poisoned Goncquard?
178177TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A6_000_001It was Senor Sabotender!
179178TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A6_000_002It was Z'napha!
180179TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A6_000_003It was Lyell!
181180TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A6_000_004It was Mistress Flaurie!
182181TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_086Senor Sabotender!? I must say, this is quite the unexpected development! Pray forgive my doubt, but I must ask: *why*?
183182TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q7_000_000Why would Senor Sabotender commit murder?
184183TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A7_000_001Trust me, an adventurer knows these things.
185184TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A7_100_001Ah, but if I were to tell you now, it would ruin the suspense.
186185TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A7_000_002Because inside the sabotender was the true killer: Kokomui!
187186TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_087You─ This is no time to be coy! Now, I will ask again. Pray take yourself seriously this time!
188187TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_LYELL_000_088Nonsense! Goncquard was a loyal customer! Why would I want him dead!? Tell me, if you're so sure!
189188TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q8_000_000Why did Lyell commit murder?
190189TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A8_000_001It was the only way you could put a stop to his drunken behavior!
191190TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A8_000_002With Goncquard gone, Flaurie would finally have eyes for you!
192191TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A8_000_003You were deep in debt to Goncquard, so you paid him back with murder!
193192TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ZNAPHA_000_089*Me*!? I have no reason to wish Master Goncquard harm! Why would I poison him!?
194193TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q9_000_000Why did Z'napha commit murder?
195194TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A9_000_001You couldn't have Goncquard to yourself, so you made sure no one could!
196195TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A9_000_002You grew tired of his constant advances, and silenced him forever!
197196TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A9_000_003Seeing Goncquard happy with his wife made you mad with envy, so you took that happiness away from them!
198197TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_FLAURIE_000_090You accuse me of killing my own husband!? Why, the very thought is sickening! What gives you cause to make such a bold claim!?
199198TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q10_000_000Why did Flaurie commit murder?
200199TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A10_000_001You thought to make your husband's riches your own!
201200TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A10_000_002This was your punishment to Goncquard for his infidelities!
202201TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A10_000_003Your husband's wandering eyes filled you with jealousy, so you shut them for good!
203202TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_100_091Kokomui!? In the Senor Sabotender!?
204203TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_KOKOMUI_000_091So that's the way your mind works, is it? Let's accuse the nearest Lalafell of murder, on account of he's the size of a sabotender? You'll need to do better than that! Why in the hells would *I* kill Goncquard? I barely knew the man!
205204TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q11_000_000Why would Kokomui commit murder?
206205TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A11_000_001Your gambling habit got the best of you, and you ran out of coin to support it.
207206TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A11_000_002You were envious of Goncquard's luck, and couldn't stand to see him win even once more!
208207TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A11_000_003You were enamored with Mistress Flaurie, and Goncquard stood in the way of your heart's desire!
209208TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_KOKOMUI_000_092Well, you've got me there! It's true my coinpurse doesn't jingle much these days. But tell me, *Inspector*, how would murder improve my situation, eh? A man can't very well earn coin when he's in shackles!
210209TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_093I must admit, Kokomui has a fair point. Poverty is hardly a sufficient motive... Ah, but something tells me you have already considered this. Pray enlighten us, that we might finally reach the truth of this matter.
211210TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q12_000_000Is there more to your accusation?
212211TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A12_000_001Kokomui was after Goncquard's Cactpot winnings!
213212TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A12_000_002Kokomui was promised a reward. From Roland!
214213TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_094What an unexpected conclusion! I shudder to think one capable of such a pitiless act was so close to us all along. Nonetheless, we are in your debt, Mistress . The Gold Saucer is safer for your efforts.
215214TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_095(-???-)Fools! No justice will be served today, my inept inspectors!
216215TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_096Thank the Twelve we caught the true culprit. It would have hung heavy over our heads had we accused an innocent of such a grievous crime. I thank you for helping us avoid further tragedy, Mistress .
217216TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_097(-???-)Fools! No justice will be served today, my inept inspectors!
218217TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_098(-???-)As expected, the truth is laid bare by Mistress 's keen intellect! Excellent work, my friend, excellent work!
219218TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_099Your deductions were impeccable! Indeed it was a Senor Sabotender who stealthily slipped an alchemical concoction into Goncquard's drink, and indeed it was Kokomui inside the costume. All for a reward from yours truly!
220219TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_100_099I suppose you found the parchment then? From the Rook to the King─or in other words, from R to K! Most clever, was it not? You have answered all the questions most skillfully. All, except, for a very simple one: *why*?
221220TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_110_099Mayhap you recall Ollier's offer to preview our forthcoming attractions? ...Yes, now you understand! I hope you enjoyed unraveling this mystery as much as we enjoyed weaving it. And look there─it appears our friend Goncquard has risen from the dead.
222221TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_GONCQUARD_000_100<yawn> ...By the gods, I've not had such a peaceful slumber in ages! Roland, you simply must teach me the recipe for that potion!
223222TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_101Now, now, my dear Goncquard, this solution is much too strong for that. The phial contained only enough to ensure you would not awaken earlier than intended. And then, perhaps, a bit more. Forgive me, but it would have been an embarrassment had your eyes opened during the dramatic climax!
224223TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_102A climax carried by Kokomui's masterful performance! Such passion! As promised, you can expect a generous recompense for your artful rendition.
225224TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_103And so, Mistress , I do hope you were entertained by the Gold Saucer's new attraction: “Murder at the Manderville Lounge.” I admit there are some performances that could stand to be more believable, but I know with time we shall improve.
226225TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_104As a whole, however, I believe accolades are in order! A round of applause to all involved, and to Mistress 's ingenuity!
227226TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_100_105At last, our work is done. Quite expertly, I might add. However, there is one last matter Master Roland wishes to discuss with you. Pray meet us in front of El Coloso as soon as circumstances allow.
228227TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_110I know not what justice awaits the guilty party, only that it will be harsh and swift. We can rest assured in the knowledge that this crime will not go unpunished.
229228TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_100_110What's that? Ah, yes, the new attractions. Given what just transpired, you must forgive me for insisting you wait. Pray return another day, after this tragedy is behind us, and we shall gladly oblige you.
230229TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_111The Brass Blades have escorted the killer from the Gold Saucer, and they will answer for their misdeeds. Well done, Ollier. And you, Mistress .
231230TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_112It was a pleasure to serve, Master Roland. However, it would be amiss of me to not give most of the credit to Mistress , whose masterful deductions led to the conclusion of the investigation.
232231TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_113Ah, yes, quite masterful! But indeed, even the master can benefit from retracing his work with a more critical eye. Who is to say there was not some subtlety that escaped your attention? If only there was a way you could relive the mystery, to ensure that justice is served, and served properly! ...Ah, pray forgive my rambling. Of course, you shall be rewarded for your efforts, if you would but remain here for an attendant to prepare it.
233232TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_114I shall take my leave. Ollier, I trust that you can resume your duties? Oh, and pray oblige any requests our interim inspector may have, should she wish to...reprise her role.
234233TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_115And you, Mistress , may you enjoy all that the Gold Saucer has to offer. You certainly deserve it.
235234TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_116I sincerely hope you did not take our deception personally, Mistress .
236235TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_117Ah, it was all in good fun! I only hope the puzzle proved challenging enough to keep you entertained throughout.
237236TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_GODBERT_000_118(-???-)Ho ho ho! I fear we may have to concoct even more devious riddles!
238237TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_GODBERT_000_119Tell it true, lass. Were you confounded by the mystery's subtlety and nuance? Or was solving it merely child's play to you?
239238TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_GODBERT_000_120Very good, very good! Once inspiration struck, we labored day and night to create a web of deception and intrigue so thick not even my dear son would be able to untangle it. It would seem, however, that there is more work to be done─more flaws to be hammered out.
240239TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_121Of course, Lord Manderville! Mistress , we are at your disposal should you wish for us to reprise our roles. Who knows, you may even see a performance you missed this time around.
241240TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_122Ollier, I trust you will accommodate Mistress 's requests. We must hone our craft until it becomes second nature.
242241TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_ROLAND_000_123In the meantime, my attendants shall prepare a reward for your aid today. And with that, I shall take my leave. Farewell!
243242TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_GODBERT_000_124I shall take my leave as well. Pray enjoy the delights of the Gold Saucer to your heart's content!
244243TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_125And so the tale of Goncquard's murder comes to a close. Ah, but I sense a desire to do it all over again. Perhaps you wonder if it could have turned out differently? Or perhaps you would like to take a closer look at the evidence? If so, simply ask and we can return to the Manderville Lounge once more!
245244TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_126
246245TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_Q13_000_000Retrace the mystery?
247246TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A13_000_001Yes, I may have missed something.
248247TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_A13_000_002No, I've seen everything I need to.
249248TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_127Very well! Pay close attention, for even the smallest detail may prove to be the piece that illuminates the truth.
250249TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_128So, shall we begin? Let us return to the moment of Goncquard's fateful supper...
251250TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_129Very well, I understand now is not the time. However, if you would ever wish to relive the intrigue of Goncquard's murder, you only need ask and we shall gladly oblige.
252251TEXT_FESGSC001_02133_OLLIER_000_130
